Meet The Team

My name is Lauren Mitchell and I am a board-certified family medicine physician and proud St. Charles native.  After finishing medical school at A.T. Still University in Kirksville, MO, I completed my family medicine residency with the U.S. Air Force at Travis AFB in California. I returned back to Missouri in 2020 and began working at a local urgent care company.  While I have enjoyed meeting and helping so many members of my community at the urgent care clinic, I also came to realize how much I missed the close relationships I had with my patients on the primary care side. Since leaving military medicine, it has also become apparent to me how expensive and frustrating traditional insurance plans and fee-for-service health clinics can be; I have learned how difficult it is to get a timely appointment and how expensive everything is- even after paying insurance premiums.  To be clear, it is not the doctor’s fault- they are simply part of a broken system that puts more and more demands on their shoulders. YOU DESERVE BETTER, PEOPLE! Inspired to meet the needs of my neighbors and community, I found a better way- Direct Primary Care. I have named my clinic Honest Family Medicine because I believe in transparent prices, healthcare with integrity and advocating for my patients above all else. Honest Family Medicine is based on these tenets:
  1. You deserve to see a fully trained doctor, not their assistant or nurse.
  2. You deserve to be seen when you need it.
  3. You deserve to know exactly how much your healthcare costs. No surprise bills. No arguing with an insurance company.
  4. You deserve to have a doctor in your corner- someone who will answer your calls / emails themselves and offer guidance.
  5. You deserve a doctor that will practice to their full abilities and not send you to multiple specialists simply due to a lack of time. I will only do that if absolutely necessary.
I would love to learn all about you and help you in any way I can.  I understand that finding the right doctor to keep you healthy and share your medical history with is a personal journey. Please email us at inquiry@honestfamilymed.com to get started.

Dr. Brett Dickinson is a board-certified Family Medicine physician with more than 18 years of experience in full-spectrum family medicine, hospice care and in the Emergency Department of a rural hospital.

A proud Missourian and graduate of UMKC School of Medicine, Dr. Dickinson values the doctor-patient relationships that are cultivated in and unique to Family Medicine.

He is excited to join the Direct Primary Care movement so that he can spend the time getting to know his patients and to provide them with individualized care without all of the administrative barriers typically found in primary care.  He enjoys caring for patients of all ages as well as offering clinic-based procedures where appropriate.

Dr. Dickinson has been married to his high school sweetheart since 2000 and has 3 children as well as several pets. He enjoys gardening, fishing, traveling with his family and anything that involves being outdoors.

Please note: While Dr. Dickinson does not currently practice functional medicine, he plans to learn more about this root-cause approach to healthcare and wants to begin implementing it into his patient care as he is able.

Casie has been a nurse at Honest Family Medicine since June, 2023.

Casie graduated from nursing school at University of Central Missouri in 2007.

She has a breadth of nursing experience, to include telemetry (cardiac monitoring), Pediatric ICU at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City, and in a pediatric Gastroenterology/Liver/Endoscopy clinic in Kansas City.

She then transitioned to school nursing for a few years before taking some time off to raise her children.

Casie grew up as an “Army Brat” and has lived in Panama as well as several other states in the U.S. before her family settled in St. Peters, where she graduated from FZS.

Casie is married with three children and enjoys camping, traveling and crafts.

Her favorite things about working at Honest Family Medicine are getting to know all of the patients, the personable approach to care and learning about functional medicine.

Cutting out the interference of insurance companies
